Posted on Sunday, December 05, 2004 - 02:21 GMTI'll probably pick this baby up. I'm just trying to determine speakers. If the amp says 30W + 30W (6ohms), does that mean you have to get speakers that are quoted at 6 ohms? There is a pair of Polk speakers I think I'd love to buy with this system, but they are quoted at 8 ohms. Not sure serice to do. I may just go with the Missions that come with the system, they did sound really nice.Others I'm still considering are the Yamaha MCR-E300 and the Onkyo MC35TECH.but the Denon looked and sounded great so I'm leaning in that direction.

I'd love to find the Onkyo somewhere, but little luck so far.As I said, I'm confused with matching speakers and amp. Stuff I've read only confuses me more. If anyone can help, that'd be great. Posted on Monday, December 06, 2004 - 23:32 GMT The polks can be used with the Denon.I uc the mission speaker better though. It's smaller, but better sound.

With the polk, you will get bigger eenon - more room filling. You might want to consider this one - it's on sale for 50% off. It has better amp than the ones you were looking at - class A.It comes with stands and rack for $200 something. It looks great too - like an executive system.Champaign metal finish, with good looking finish on speakers.https://www.goleather.com/detail.asp?product_id=HM601 Posted on Monday, December ,anual, 2004 - 23:35 GMT Here is the onkyo :https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=67802%26item%3D5735515629 %26%26https://www.abtelectronics.com/scripts/site/site_product.php3?id=9756&setflag=110 2375026 Posted on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - 04:57 GMTHI I JUST BOUGHT A UD-50 AND PAIRED IT UP WITH A PAIR OF AIWA 3-WAY BOOK SHELF 6-OHM SPEAKERS WITH 2 BASS PORTS IN EACH IM SHOCKED AT HOW GOODTHIS SYSTEM SOUNDS AND IV HEARD MANY VERY HIGH END SYSTEMS MUST BE THE CLASS A AMPLIFIER THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS I KEEP GETTIND A MECHANICAL ERROR MESSAGE IN THE CD CHANGER SECTION AND DOESNT SEEM TO WORK IF ANYONE HAS A SUGGESTIONI WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT THANK YOU MYE-MAIL IS zapman1951@yahoo.com Posted on Wednesday, July 04, 2007 - 23:14 GMTIF ANY BODY CAN TELL ME HOW TO FIX THE CD CHANGEROR IF I CAN GET A WHOLE NEW SECTION TO PUT IN MYDENON UD-M50 I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ITCONTACT ME Service manual denon ud m50 zapman1951@yahoo.comTHANK YOU.

PS I Servoce THE UNIT USED AND WORKS FINE EXCEPT I GET MACHANICAL ERROR MESSAGES AND THE CD SECTION DOESNT WORK. Posted on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 04:17 GMTCan't help you much Michael. I bought the system (ended up pairing it with Energy Connoisseur C-1 speakers and a Mission MS-8 sub, no complaints).

But I'll tell you one thing, when the CD changer is loading a new disc it really makes a racket, and if you look closely you can sfrvice the whole tray moving up and down in it's compartment as it's chugging away. Sometimes when loading it seems to get caught but it keeps on trying and eventually loads. I'm sure it'll fail one day, but I've used it for almost three years now and it's still going. Posted on Thursday, September 11, 2008 - 18:36 GMTI LOST MY OWNER MANUAL FOR UD-M50,BUT I HAVE THE REPAIR / SERVICE MANUAL FOR IT .I WILL TRADE / EXCHANGE ( DOWNLOADS ), WITH ANYONE THAT HAS A COPYOF THE OWNERS MANUAL.I PREFER A DOWNLOAD !!!! Posted on Friday, January manuwl, 2010 - 18:26 GMTMy Denon UD-M50 CD Auto Changer Receiver no longer auto changes.

Having opened the case to observe the mechanism, I find that, with a little manual assistance to the rear gate that clamps the chosen CD, I can get auto change to work by assisting the gate to rise far enough.

The gate goes up and down in a track that I have lubricated sparsely with light oil, but that still does not get the mechanism to work unaided. What should I do? Posted on Monday, January 18, 2010 - 11:13 GMTMy UD-M50, after oiling, changes CDs OK when loaded with 3 CDs but fails to operate on its own after one or more CDs are taken out. I suspect that the mechanism is made by Sanyo and is used in a number of other brand's 3 CD autochanger units.

I've just bought a faulty Denon UD-M5, hoping the the auto changer in it is the same as in the UD-M50 and is not faulty. I'll let you know what happens when I get it and try to fit it. Posted on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 - 08:50 GMTThe CD autochanger in the Sdrvice and UD-M5 are amnual different, so bang goes the idea that I could just swap autochangers. However I've now bought a second faulty UD-M5, with a different set of faults, and am hoping to put together one that works.I'd suggest that you try eBay for UD-M50's if you must have one - they will probably all be used.

If you register with eBay you can do a search of completed sales to see how much you will have to pay. However I'd recommend that you buy something else, without a wear prone CD autochanger like the UD-M50's eg a UD-M30. When pressing any of the CD selection buttons on the front panel such action results is endless shifting of the three trays which requires me to pull the plug to get it to stop. And sometimes the drawer does m05 out with tray deenon when I pressed button 1 or tray 3 when I press button 2.Any suggestions or schematics on the correct order of installing the trays.

I think it may be the sequencing of the trays. Thanks in advance.Garry CBack to topminnieJoined: 18 Aug 2005Posts: 2878Location: HellPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 8:45 pm Post subject:Try cleaning the optics with a qtip and isopropyl alcohol.Back to topGarry C.Joined: 05 Nov 2007Posts: 2Posted: Tue Nov 06, 2007 12:16 am Post subject:Minnie,Great idea!

best bet is to see if you can get a complete mech from somewhere.Back to topIbbotsnmGuestPosted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 9:53 pm Post subject: Denon UD-M50 CD trayGarry,I once experienced the same problem with my system.

It occurred after I had disassembled and reassembled the carousel mech. I had not noticed that the trays are marked with small plastic pips at the rear of each. the pips are binary weighted. ie. pip1 for tray 1, pip2 for tray 2 and both pips service manual denon ud m50 tray 3. If as I had done, the trays were not inserted correctly in that I had obtained a spare tray 2 and tried to use it to replace a broken tray 3 ( in every other respect the trays are identical), the electronics became confused and the trays cycled endlessly.

In your case, if the trays had never been removed, it might be that one of the two small switches that the plastic pips yd, might have broken or jammed and the microprocessor will see for example tray 1, 3, 1, 3, 1 . rather than 1,2,3,1,2,3.

etc. My problem disappeared once I had re-aligned the trays correctly.Hope this helpsBack to topIbbotsnmGuestPosted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 9:56 pm Post subject: UD-M50 traysPS.Forgot to mention, I can let you have a copy of the relevant repair manual instructions if cenon indicate your Email address.RegardsIbbotsnmBack to topvslaneGuestPosted: Tue Jul 08, 2008 1:08 pm Post subject: ud-m50 traysif "Ibbotsnm" wouldn't mind, I'd like a copy of the repair manual for this one?I have this model and it worked great up until last month.

Suddenly, it won't open the door and eject any of the trays, and the screen reads "mech error". I would take serfice apart to fix, but prefer to have a manual to assist with putting it back together.thank you in advance.vschickie at yahoo dot comBack to topGuestPosted: Tue Jul 15, 2008 1:47 pm Post subject: I FIXED ITI never did get that repair manual but here's what I did:Originally, I had loaded 3 CDs (I thought), into my Denon UD-m50 CD serfice.

I tried to play one, but it made horrible noises and then the screen read "MECH ERROR" and it wouldn't eject anything. It also kept blinking a yellow light at me even when the thing was off.so, I unplugged it from all the cables and from the wall.I removed the top cover, and saw the top CD tray (just under the big white round thingie) was stuck mid-way.

I very gently used a small screwdriver to push the tray towards the front of the machine.then (since I didn't have the manual and I had no idea what else to do), I plugged it back into the electrical outlet, service manual denon ud m50 turned it on. It made noises, but it DID eject the tray. Turns out, there was a black Service manual denon ud m50 in tray 2, and I had accidently put another CD on top of it.

DOH!User error!I think because it was a dark colored CD and matched the color of the tray, I didn't notice that a CD was already in that tray, that is why I put a 2nd one on top. Service manual denon ud m50 I removed all the CDs. tested all the trays ejecting, etc.I also put in a CD (not an important one this time), and made sure it still played, etc.

it worked. Then put the cover mnaual on, and gently screwed in all the screws, and plugged it in to all the speakers/wires again.I proudly showed my husband what I had done, and DAMN I got that Mech.

error again. But this time no CDs were in the thing. So I tooI have a UD-M50 triple CD player that has given me stirling serviceuntil I mistakenly pressed in the CD tray instead of using the button,at which point it jammed.Having dismantled it I discovered a small problem with the spring thatlevels the cd tray as it locates into the right position to be read bythe lasar.

There are two such springs one supporting each side of thetray. This problem I have repaired however I am having trouble settingthe positions of the three cd trays with respect to one another in themechanical changing assembly.

I imagine it is just an alignmentproblem of the trays and gears etc.I also suspect that it mannual not an uncommon occurance with this type ofequipment. Can anybody who has come across this serviice before please help. Ihave costed a repair by a professional company and they quote as muchas a new item.Is it necessary to replace the whole cd tray mechanism? or does anyoneknow how to obtain the necessary alignment eenon.

I am cenon that there is no significant damage to the unitMany thanks.-ibbotsnmRe: Denon UD-M50elfe11118.01.05 19:49 Hi ibbotsnmhave or had the same Problem with my M50does anyone have an idea how to align those 3 trays? The most likely way is: tray 3 is in the turntable and the mechanism isdowntray 2 is above tray 1 - both in the uud service manual denon ud m50 of the drawerthese trays have to be bent a lot if you reinsert them into the drawer, sothat the teeth on the one side, do not turn the teeth on the rotatingmechanism or rather move them into an unwanted position.

The mechanism ison that side where the teeth on the trays are.I have managed to open and close all trays but getting the tray 3 out ofthe turntabel still causes problems with tray 2 - hope to solve this byading some grease or oil to the mechanismhave luckRichardRichardDenon UD-M50ibbotsnm26.01.05 12:20 Hi RichardI have obtained the repair manual from a company here in the UK andhave recently tried to re-align the trays.Firstly the manual although helpful in listing the various parts etc.itloses a lot in the translation from Japanese to English.

I think youare absolutely correct in your assumption that the trays are arranged. It is probably necessary to fully dismantle the CD assembly from therest of the unit first before any realistic repairs can be carried out.I have a copy of those instructions if you require one. My problemwas that the initial snarl up was because of one of the two springmechanisms that elevate the disc in the drive position maual itselfmiss-aligned due to a small part of the plastic breaking.

This Irepaired and after quite some time I managed to understand the'Carousel' action of the mechanism. By rotating the small bevel gear(the white one that drops loose when the unit is disasembled) 5complete turns the first tray (Tray 2) is made to traverse from therear to the manuual of the unit.

Place tray 1 into the rear of the unitand turn the gear a further 5 turns and it should travel from the rearto the front as did the first tray, at the same time the first tray iselevated up to the top front position. the tray will need a littleassistance during this operation since it normally works the other wayup and relies on gravity to lift (drop) the tray into position.

asimilar operation is followed by tray 3 so allowing tray 2 to take overthe drive position. I maual found that the gears didn't rotate fully fivetimes the second time but jammed causing the whole mechanism to foul up.I managed to cure this by disassembling the whole gear mechanism andturning the 'black gears' to a slightly different position from where Iwas then able to rotate the whole mechanism freely.

Although itappeared to work when operated by hand, once I had reassembled thewhole unit it refused to operate fully under power. Thats where Istand at the moment. No longer jamming but not yet fully aligned. Iwill crack the problem yet.!!!Let me know how you do. I will copy the written procedure if yourequire it.regards Norman Ibbotson-ibbotsnmRe: Denon UD-M50simona200115.08.05 8:17 Hi Norman and RichardI'm particularly interested in whether either of you have found asolution in terms of alignment with the CD trays of the M50 unit.I'm in the same boat in that the mechanism is out of sync after 2 CDswere accidently placed in the same tray. When reassembling the trays I'm guessing right that in the front of themech tray 1 is placed above tray 2 and tray 3 resides in the loweredreading position?Does the service manual show or describe how the cogs and trays arepositioned for assembly, if you still have a copy of the manual I wouldbe very grateful if you could email me a copy. Many thanks!Simon-simona2001Re: Denon UD-M50Arfa Daily15.08.05 17:30 I have a set of alignment diagrams for this deck.

It's dead easy once youknow how. It's actually a Sanyo manufactured mech. Before reassembling, ieputting any trays into the drawer, rotate the whole side gear assembly (both sides will turn because of the coupling rod across the drawer ) severalturns in both
